The eldest daughter, Zoë, her husband, Carl

 and our grandson Victor Antonio aged 18 months and granddaughter  Carmen Rosa 7 weeks.

It was great to get out to Hong Kong in October 2008 to see them for Victor's birthday and Zoë's too. I now have a HK call to use VR2/G4CJC. We will all have a great Xmas when they come over to the UK.

She's a teacher in Chorleywood but starts in Valencia in September.

• The new fixtures are out. Burnley for the first match at home on Saturday 15th. Then Liverpool away on a Tuesday. Best is September 12th Chelsea at home and the 26th Man U at home. Good stuff!

I shall miss Arsenal at the Brit in February as I'll be in Australia. But I've got to get to the Emirates in December as I could not get tickets last season.

• Well it's not been a great start. But I have seen young Aussie star Hughes score a ton. He looks a great prospect for the Ashes. I hope James and Michelle will be coming over for that at Lord's so expect more pics.
• Middlesex won their second consecutive Twenty20 Cup match when they made the short trip across the Thames and defeated the Surrey Brown Caps by seven wickets with ten balls to spare. With nothing to play for except local pride, Surrey rested a number of front line players; Middlesex rested Eoin Morgan and omitted Gareth Berg with Nick Compton and Chris Silverwood replacing them.

• Yummy Oatcakes, I nearly always take 5 doz. back to London and give 'TUT a dozen. He eats them with Marmalade on (wierdo). Castle Oatcakes are pretty good. Find them at London Road, Newcastle-u-Lyme, Staffs opposite the Cherry Tree. The guys have moved to just round the corner at the same spot.  Tel/Fax 01782 662494.

• G4CJC@GB7TUT  The RSGB is quite a good place to start looking for amateur radio stuff. GB7TUT was my local packet BBS run by Richard G4TUT but like lots of packet BBSs and nodes it's now closed. Also try Southgate ARC where Richard has designed the web pages and I contribute a 10 metre band report "Tony's Ten".

• I have a Kenwood 430s (100W ssb), MFJ 948 tuner, 25W German VHF fm jobby, 15 W SMC UHF fm thingy, two dual band co-linears and a Carolina Windom for HF. Also have a Kenwood TH-F7E dual band handie (nice) though I modded it so the E doesn't apply.

• Australia, Updated 28 Jun 2009. We visited my son in Sydney during the summer of 2003.  We went again during Easter 2005. And we were there Easter 2007. We went to the Aussie Stadium for a Sydney Warratahs game and a meal. Great food and the Warratahs won their first game.
• I'd have loved to have gone for the Sydney Ashes Test but couldn't get tickets. James did managed to get himself a spot in the firm's corporate box. I have got get tickets for the Ashes Tour match at Lord's in 2009 and hope James will be able to come over here.
• I got the call sign VK2IBX which I shall keep.
• Sydney, a great city, superb food, wonderful views, ginormous spiders and wombats!!
• Look at this colossal pine cone. No it is not a pineapple!! Its from a Bunya Tree. Very spiky and dangerous!! How did James manage to catch that one? He did manage to catch a new girlfriend, just hope he can keep this one, she's a cracker.

• We also visited VK5KJ ex GW4BCB in Mount Gambier. Here's Kev and a couple of his amazing collection of valves. Kev is now in Brisbane as VK4UH.

• He has sold his place in Mount Gambier and bought in Brisbane.
• The Web Cam on the bridge in Sydney Harbour is back off line again for renovations, so they say. We had another great time in OZ at Easter 2007. Didn't take many photos, too busy enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately we didn't get to see Kev (above) and Judy. We will next time as Ev is now retired and we can go out of school term and for longer.

• The Bar Restaurante La Almazara in Cortijo Grande near Turre, Almeria in southern Spain is a super place for a meal, a drink and a chat. It is next to the golf course and opens early on Sunday morning for those crazy guys who need to get out there. Open till late every day except Saturday . Los Limoneros in the Cortijo is also pretty good for food. They also have a swimming pool but it's always got kids and their ignorant parents around it. However they are open every day!
